It Would Be Believable If I Said My Homework Got Eaten By The Dog Wouldn't It?

38 years old, never married and I've got 7 dogs, 2 cats and a giant gorilla in my back garden. Yep that's me, and I will give you a minute whilst you make your own conclusions as to what type of woman I am...... Don't worry, I won't be offended, I am aware of the conclusions people make.

The fact is I haven't really ever been different, I just invoke more judgement as I get older.

When I was a kid, I got my first job shovelling cat poo at a local cattery and I used to bring back various strays and cry until my parents let me keep them.

I always knew I'd end up with a boat load of animals as an adult... A Nottinghamshire Noah if you will!

But it isn't just my penchant for animals that gets people judging me. I do loads of weird things. I like to make up games for example. I am the proud creator of some stellar office activities;

  1. Flippy Cuppy- where you flip a plastic cup from bottom to top and make it stand up.
  2. Maggot racing- where you throw some fake maggots at a window and bet on who will drop to the bottom first.
  3. Bean Flicker, (nope not rude)- where you get one of those admin thimbles for thumbing pages and play a tennis type game with rulers!

I also leave happy post it notes on public toilet mirrors in the hope that it will make someone smile and I constantly make videos for comic value to send to my friends and they assume I'm drunk- unfortunately I'm very often not!

One thing I haven't done, which I always said I would in my childhood, is write a book. I've always talked about it but have never done it. So this year I made a promise to myself. I'd do what I'd say I would.

I have a list of five goals for the year, one of which is to write a children's book. So I have started a writing course, and this blog is my homework.

Over the next few months I want to learn enough to write the book that lives within me. A collection of poems called 'I've 7 dogs, 2 cats and a giant gorilla in my back garden.'

Watch this space!

In the meantime here are some of the illustrations (not done by me) for the poems.... Carol Looly, Cyril No and the Furry Krays xx
